The Filter Bar

Use the Filter Bar to select the set of patents you are interested in.

In the Filter Bar, you can find icons for the most used filter elements, including Owner, IPC, Tag and Patent Number.

You can also drag & drop items to the search filter, e.g. from the Company Info Box

Add elements to the filter to modify your selection

The number of active patent families will change according to your filter settings

Filter elements with a dropdown arrow allow you to select other elements of the same kind directly in the search area.

There are many other filter elements available. Click here to find a full list of filter elements.

Filter by Patent Number(s)

You can filter for a single patent number

Filtering for multiple patent numbers at a time can be carried out by two different ways as described below:

Enter patent numbers separated by semicolons

Or copy and paste patent numbers into the search

Note: The same is possible for Owner, IPC and CPC filters!

Now you can work with the selected patents

Boolean Operators

You can use different Boolean operators: OR, AND, AND NOT, NOT, (…)

OR: two queries within the same filter box are connected by OR

AND: different filter boxes are automatically connected by AND

AND NOT, NOT: exclude the search results from your filter setting

Full Text Search

You can use the Full Text search option as described in the following

You can search for keywords or sentences in desired sections, e.g. Claims and Description.

Note: The search runs on English-language versions of all documents, regardless of their original language. Where human translations are unavailable, we use state-of-the-art machine translation. That means your search may only contain English words and the search for e.g. "water" will also find the Chinese documents containing the sign "水" (water).

Using operators, wildcards or brackets in Full Text search is also possible.
Operators, wildcards and brackets are marked in green, while keywords are marked in red.
Note: For more information about Operators and Wildcards please refer to the syntax cheat sheet, which can be found in PatentSight's Help section.
